Description

Frigyes V was born on March 31, 1723 in Copenhagen. VI. He was the only son of King Keresztely of Denmark and Norway and his wife Zsófia Magdolna of Brandenburg-Kulmbachi. He ascended the throne in 1746 after his father's death. During his reign, Denmark and Norway lived in peace, and the country was characterized by economic development. Frigyes was actively involved in cultural life and supported many art projects. In 1745, he married the Prussian princess Zsófia Lujza, daughter of William Frigyes I of Prussia. Six children were born from their marriage. In 1762, he participated in the Seven Years' War, but soon made peace with Prussia. He supported the sciences and the arts. He modernized the Danish army. It strengthened Danish-Norwegian trade. He introduced reforms in the Danish administration.V. Frederick was a passionate hunter. He spoke several languages, including Danish, German, French and Italian. He maintained good relations with the leading figures of the French Enlightenment.V. Frigyes died on December 14, 1766 in Copenhagen. After his death, his son, VI. Christian followed him on the throne.V. Frederick V was the king of Denmark and Norway from 1746 to 1766. During his reign, many minting reforms and changes were made in the field of copper and silver coins. In 1746, new copper coins were introduced, most of which were precious coins. These coins, which were called "Schilling" or "Skilling", were used in everyday trade.
