Fölötte félköriratban az 1848-49-es forradalom és szabadságharc legjelentősebb, győztes ütközeteinek felsorolása (ISASZEG, BUDA, KOMÁROM, VÁC) jelenik meg, a csaták időrendi sorrendjében. Az emlékérmék hátlapján is visszaköszön a külső körgyűrűs szerkezet, amelyet kissé megtör Görgei Artúr dagerrotípia alapján készült, félalakos ábrázolása. A Magyar Nemzeti Bank Görgei Artúr megnevezéssel 10 000 forintos címletű ezüst és 2000 forint névértékű színesfém emlékérmét bocsát ki 2018. január 30-án a Hadtörténeti Intézet és Múzeum által rendezett Görgei Artúr Tudományos Emlékkonferencia keretében. Az emlékérme-kibocsátás kettős apropóját az 1848-49-es forradalom és szabadságharc kitörésének 170. évfordulója és a szabadságharc egyik legkiemelkedőbb hadvezérének 200. születési évfordulója adja. A Görgei Artúr érmékkel indul a jegybank 2018. évi emlékérme-kibocsátási programja. 200 éve született Görgei Artúr (1818. január 30. – 1916. május 21.) honvédtábornok, hadügyminiszter, az 1848–49-es forradalom és szabadságharc egyik legtehetségesebb hadvezére, aki több alkalommal a honvédsereg fővezéreként irányította a szabadságharcot. Polgári végzettségét tekintve vegyész, 1848 előtt e területen is kiemelkedő eredményeket ért el. A világosi fegyverletétel után megítélése ellentmondásos, sokszor elmarasztaló volt, de a történelemtudományi kutatások megcáfolták a hazaárulás vádját. A Görgei emlékérmék hazánk törvényes fizetőeszközei, de nem forgalmi célokat szolgálnak, elsődleges szerepük a megemlékezés, a figyelemfelkeltés nemzeti értékeinkre, történelmünk kiemelkedő alakjaira, eseményeire.
