Budapest, 2018. június 21. –A Magyar Nemzeti Bank 2018. június 22-én „Egri vár” megnevezéssel 10 000 Ft névértékű ezüst és 2000 Ft névértékű színesfém emlékérmét bocsát ki az egri Dobó István Vármúzeum és a Magyar Nemzeti Bank Értéktár programja jóvoltából megvalósuló Fegyvermustra c. interaktív kiállítás megnyitó ünnepségén. Az emlékérmék a 2004-ben indult Magyar várak sorozat részeként jelennek meg. Az Egri vár emlékérmék hazánk törvényes fizetőeszközei, de nem forgalmi célokat szolgálnak. Elsődleges szerepük a figyelemfelhívás, az ismeretterjesztés, valamint a tisztelgés a magyar nemzet meghatározó történelmi eseményei és hősei előtt. Az Egri vár kulcsfontosságú védelmi szerepet játszott a Magyar Királyság végvárrendszerének részeként. Ezer éves történetének leghíresebb eseménye az 1552-es ostrom, amikor a Dobó István várkapitány által vezetett kétezer fős védősereg közel harmincszoros török túlerővel szemben hősiesen megvédte a várat.
