1867. május 29-én, épp 150 évvel ezelőtt a magyar országgyűlés megszavazta a kiegyezésről szóló XII. törvénycikket, amely leszögezte, hogy az uralkodó személye két szuverén államot köt össze, és amely a maga hibáival, hiányosságaival együtt megteremtette Magyarország polgári átalakulásának lehetőségét. Mindkét érmeoldal kompozíciója azonos: a kiegyezést kötő magyar és osztrák felek portréja díszíti, háttérben az Osztrák-Magyar Monarchia kiscímerével. Az emlékérmét olyan újszerű tervezési megoldás teszi egyedivé, mint az érme alsó részén visszahajló belső perem, amely megszakítja az emlékérme szélét díszítő gyöngysorszegélyt. 2018. november 2. és 2018. november 15. között Moszkvában került megrendezésre a tizenkettedik Nemzetközi Érmeverseny, a Coin Constellation 2018.
