1867. május 29-én, épp 150 évvel ezelőtt a magyar országgyűlés megszavazta a kiegyezésről szóló XII. törvénycikket, amely leszögezte, hogy az uralkodó személye két szuverén államot köt össze, és amely a maga hibáival, hiányosságaival együtt megteremtette Magyarország polgári átalakulásának lehetőségét. Mindkét érmeoldal kompozíciója azonos: a kiegyezést kötő magyar és osztrák felek portréja díszíti, háttérben az Osztrák-Magyar Monarchia kiscímerével. Az emlékérmét olyan újszerű tervezési megoldás teszi egyedivé, mint az érme alsó részén visszahajló belső perem, amely megszakítja az emlékérme szélét díszítő gyöngysorszegélyt. 2018. november 2. és 2018. november 15. között Moszkvában került megrendezésre a tizenkettedik Nemzetközi Érmeverseny, a Coin Constellation 2018. Am 29. Mai 1867, vor genau 150 Jahren, stimmte das ungarische Parlament für den XII. Gesetzesartikel, der festlegte, dass die Person des Herrschers zwei souveräne Staaten bindet, und der mit seinen Fehlern und Mängeln die Möglichkeit einer bürgerlichen Umgestaltung Ungarns schuf. Die Zusammensetzung beider Seiten der Münze ist gleich: Sie ist mit den Porträts der ungarischen und österreichischen Vertragsparteien verziert, im Hintergrund ist das Wappen der Österreichisch-Ungarischen Monarchie zu sehen. Einzigartig wird die Gedenkmünze durch eine neuartige Designlösung, beispielsweise durch den nach hinten gebogenen Innenrand im unteren Teil der Münze, der den Perlenrand unterbricht, der den Rand der Gedenkmünze schmückt.
