VIII. Rama, also known as Ananda Mahidol (1925-1946), was the eighth king of the Chakri Dynasty of Thailand, who ruled Thailand from 1935 to 1946. Ananda Mahidol was born in 1925 in Heidelberg, Germany. His father was Prince Mahidol Adulyadej and his mother was Princess Sangwan Talapat. Ananda Mahidol was the first Thai king to be born abroad. He ascended the throne in 1935, aged just 9, after his nephew Prajadhipok (Rama VII) abdicated. However, due to the Second World War, he did not return to Thailand until 1945. 1946. died suddenly and tragically in Bangkok on June 9, when he was still young. The circumstances surrounding his death and the investigation into the cause of his death caused a lot of scandal and speculation in Thailand. After his death, his son Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) succeeded him on the throne.
