Rama VI
Description
Rama VI, also known as Vajiravudh (1881-1925), was the sixth king of the Chakri dynasty of Thailand, who ruled Thailand from 1910 to 1925. He was the son of Chulalongkorn (Rama V) and Queen Saovabha Phongsri. Vajiravudh was born in 1881 in Bangkok. In his youth, he studied in England at the Royal Military College and Oxford. He ascended the throne in 1910 and was famous for his support of Thai nationalism. He made several reforms and established Thailand's first university, Chulalongkorn University. Vajiravudh was interested in Thai history, archeology and literature. He was also active as an author and wrote many works. He died in 1925 and was succeeded by Prajadhipok (Rama VII). During Vajiravudh's reign, Thailand underwent significant development and did a lot for modernization and the strengthening of national identity.

During Rama's reign (1910-1925), the following coins were minted in Thailand: Metal coins, 1 fuang (silver), ½ fuang (silver), ¼ fuang (silver), 10 satang (copper), 5 satang (copper), 1 satang (copper ).Paper money was printed in denominations of 100 ticals, 20 ticals, 10 ticals, 5 ticals, 1 ticals. It was created by King Rama and on the reverse side the image of the Royal Palace of Chula Chom Klao or Wat Phra Kaew. The face of the banknotes is also included in VI. King Rama, and on the reverse side was an image of various Thai landscapes or buildings. The coins were minted by the Royal Mint, and the banknotes were minted by the National Bank of Siam.
