VI. Pope Paul (born Giovanni Battista Montini, 1897-1978) was one of the most important popes of the 20th century, who led the Catholic Church from 1963 to 1978. During his pontificate, his predecessor, XXIII, continued and deepened. Promulgated by Pope John II. Renewal process initiated by the Vatican Council. VI. Pope Paul also played a significant role in the life of the Hungarian Catholic Church. In 1974, he released Cardinal József Mindszenty from the dignity of Archbishop and Primate of Esztergom, and in 1977 he received János Kádár, the first secretary of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party. VI. After the death of Pope Paul, the Catholic Church found itself in the middle of a profound renewal process. The II.
