III. Sabah Al-Salim was the Emir of Kuwait from 1965 to 1977. He was born on June 16, 1929 in Kuwait City. He was also the commander-in-chief of Kuwait's forces and the country's finance minister between 1965 and 1967. In 1965, he inherited the title of emir from his father, III. By Abdallah Al-Salim Al-Sabah. Under the Emirate of Kuwait, the economy boomed and the country realized significant oil revenues. III. After the death of Emir Sabah Al-Salim, the throne was taken over by his younger brother Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Minting information
He was the fourth Emir of Kuwait, who took over the country in 1965 from his half-brother, III. From Abdullah. During his reign, Kuwait's economy and infrastructure developed significantly, thanks to oil revenues and modernization programs. During his minting, he issued coins of various denominations and materials, all bearing the Kuwaiti coat of arms and Arabic numerals. The most common coins are 1, 5 , 10, 20, 50 and 100 fils, which were made of nickel-brass, copper or aluminium. The obverse of the coins featured the Kuwaiti inscription (الكُوَيت) and denomination (فلس), and the reverse the Islamic calendar and the Christian calendar. The rim of the coins was smooth or ribbed, depending on the denomination of the coin.
