Description
Joan-Enric Vives i Sicilia, Catalan high priest, archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church, bishop of the Diocese of Urgelli and ex officio co-duke of Andorra. He was born on July 24, 1949 in Barcelona, Spain. He completed his studies in his hometown and was ordained a priest in 1974. II. Pope János Pál appointed him auxiliary bishop of Barcelona in 1993, then coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Urgelli in 2001. He became head of the diocese on May 12, 2003, after the previous bishop, Joan Martí Alanis, resigned due to his old age. He was given the title of archbishop not based on the rank of his diocese, but "ad personam" in XVI. From Pope Benedict in 2010.
