Khalid ibn Abdul-Aziz was the fifth king of Saudi Arabia, who ruled from 1975 to 1982. King Khalid came to power in 1975 after the death of his half-brother, King Faisal. During his reign, he managed to maintain the country's stability while also facing the challenges of rapid economic growth. In the 1970s, oil prices skyrocketed and Saudi Arabia, as one of the world's largest oil exporters, gained huge revenues. Under King Khalid, the country spent significant sums on infrastructure development, education and healthcare.
