ARC. Tupou Taufaʻahau, also known as Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV, was the fourth monarch of the Kingdom of Tonga, reigning from 1965 until his death in 2006. During his long reign of over forty years, he was the world's fifth longest-reigning living monarch, King After Bhumibol Adulyadej (Thailand) and Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi (Ras al-Khaimah). ARC. Tupou Taufaʻahau was born in 1918 in Nukuʻalofa, Tonga. He was III. He is the eldest son of Queen Tupou Salote and Prince Uiliame Tungi. He was the Prime Minister of Tonga from 1949 to 1965, then the ruler of the Kingdom of Tonga from December 16, 1965 until his death. He was crowned king in Nukuʻalofa on July 2, 1967. IV. Tupou Taufaʻahau's marriage produced four children, including György V. Tupou, who inherited the throne after his father's death. It is interesting to mention that in 1976, according to the Guinness Book of Records, he was the heaviest monarch in the world, with a body weight of 209.5 kilograms. In terms of Hungary, it is interesting that the portrait of the king was painted by the Hungarian painter István Doma-Mikó, who was appointed his court painter in 1989.

ARC. During the reign of Tupou Taufa, Tonga's coinage underwent significant changes. Early coins were based on the British pound, but in 1961 Tonga introduced decimal currency and new coins were minted in decimal denominations. 1949-1960: Penny: bronze, 1.2 grams, halfpenny: bronze, 0.6 grams, farthing: bronze, 0.3 grams, shilling: silver, 5.67 grams, florin: silver, 11.34 grams.1961-1965: 1 cent: aluminum, 0.6 grams, 2 cents: bronze, 1.2 grams, 5 cents: nickel, 2.5 grams, 10 cents: silver, 3.5 grams, 20 cents: silver, 6.0 grams, 50 cents: silver, 12.0 grams. IV. A number of commemorative coins were minted during Tupou Taufa's reign, including: 1953: Coronation commemorative coin1963: 10th anniversary of Tonga's independence1965: IV. To commemorate the death of Tupou Taufa, early Tongan coins bore the portrait of the British king. After the decimal change, the Tongan coins bore the portrait of the Tongan king. The Tongan coins were minted by the Royal Mint in London.
