A Magyar Nemzeti Bank Irinyi János születésének 200. évfordulója tiszteletére 2000 forintos címletű színesfém emlékérmét bocsát ki, proof és BU kivitelben. A proof érme előlapjának különlegessége, hogy a gyufa lángja szivárványhatást biztosító felületi lézeres megmunkálással került kialakításra. A szivárványhatás az érmét természetes fényben mozgatva a láng felületén a szivárvány színeinek váltakozásával kel életre.

Irinyi János, az egyik legtehetségesebb magyar kémikus. Ma leginkább Irinyi gyufával kapcsolatos tevékenysége él a köztudatban, hiszen ő szabadalmaztatta elsőként a zajtalan, robbanásmentes gyufát; pedig az új szemléletű kémia egyik legelső hazai terjesztője is volt, valamint jelentős szerepet játszott a magyar kémiai szaknyelv kialakításában is. Mint erősen hazafias érzelmű nemes ember részt vett a forradalmi mozgalmakban, a híres 12 pont szövegezése is az ő nevéhez fűződik. Az 1848—49-es forradalom és szabadságharcban aktív szerepet vállalt.

Irinyi János a Magyar mérnökök, feltalálók sorozat 11. tagjaként jelent meg.

Zu Ehren des 200. Geburtstags von János Irinyi gibt die Magyar Nemzeti Bank eine Nichteisen-Gedenkmünze im Wert von 2.000 HUF in der Ausführung Polierte Platte und BU aus. Das Besondere an der Vorderseite der Proof-Münze ist, dass die Flamme des Streichholzes durch eine Oberflächenlaserbearbeitung erzeugt wurde, die für einen Regenbogeneffekt sorgt. Der Regenbogeneffekt wird durch die Bewegung der Münze im natürlichen Licht mit den wechselnden Farben des Regenbogens auf der Flammenoberfläche zum Leben erweckt.

János Irinyi, einer der talentiertesten ungarischen Chemiker. Auch heute noch sind Irinyis Aktivitäten rund um das Thema Streichhölzer im öffentlichen Bewusstsein verankert, da er als Erster das geräuschlose, explosionsgeschützte Streichholz patentieren ließ; Er war auch einer der ersten inländischen Vertreiber des neuen Ansatzes in der Chemie und spielte auch eine bedeutende Rolle bei der Entwicklung der ungarischen Chemiesprache. Als Adliger mit ausgeprägtem Patriotismus beteiligte er sich an den revolutionären Bewegungen, auch der Wortlaut der berühmten 12 Punkte wird ihm zugeschrieben. In honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of János Irinyi, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank is issuing a HUF 2,000 non-ferrous commemorative coin in proof and BU designs. The special feature of the front of the proof coin is that the flame of the match was created with surface laser processing that provides a rainbow effect. The rainbow effect comes to life by moving the coin in natural light with the changing colors of the rainbow on the surface of the flame.

János Irinyi, one of the most talented Hungarian chemists. Today, Irinyi's activities related to matches live on in the public consciousness, since he was the first to patent the noiseless, explosion-proof match; and he was also one of the first domestic distributors of the new approach to chemistry, and also played a significant role in the development of the Hungarian chemical language. As a nobleman with a strong sense of patriotism, he participated in the revolutionary movements, and the wording of the famous 12 points is also attributed to him.
