Budapest, 2018. július 31. – Hevesy György tiszteletére 5000 Ft névértékű ezüst és 2000 Ft névértékű színesfém emlékérmét bocsát ki a Magyar Nemzeti Bank 2018. augusztus 1-jén, a tudós feltaláló születésnapján. A különleges ovális alakú emlékérmék a 2012-ben indult magyar Nobel-díjasokat bemutató sorozat 5. tagjaként mutatkoznak be a sorban. A kibocsátás apropóját az adja, hogy 75 évvel ezelőtt ítélték neki a kémiai Nobel-díjat „az izotópok indikátorként való alkalmazásáért”. A Hevesy György tiszteletére kibocsátott emlékérmék hazánk törvényes fizetőeszközei, de nem forgalmi célokat szolgálnak. Elsődleges szerepük a közfigyelem ráirányítása a tudományos életben elért magyar sikerre, illetve a felfedezés jelentőségének elismerése.
