Széchenyi a reformkori politikai küzdelmek vezéralakja, a hazai polgári átalakulás első programadó egyénisége, akinek nevéhez a magyar gazdaság és közélet, a közlekedés, európai kapcsolataink, a tudományok anyanyelvi fejlesztése és a sport területén végrehajtott jelentős reformkezdeményezések fűződnek. Az emlékérme előoldalán fő motívumként az általa alapított Magyar Tudományos Akadémia épülete jelenik meg, előterében parkrészlet és Engel József Széchenyi István szobrának ábrázolása látható. A szobor érmeképi elemként történő megjelenése ritkaságnak számít. Az előoldalon találhatóak továbbá a kötelező érmeképi elemek is: a „MAGYARORSZÁG” felirat, a 20 000 illetve a 2000 forint értékjelzés, a különleges mikroírással készült biztonsági elemet tartalmazó „BP.” verdejel, valamint a „2016” kibocsátási évszám.Provide a better value for 3 points and your shop link will appear here.

Széchenyi István félalakos ábrázolása látható, háttérben az első magyarországi vasútvonal menetrendjének részletével, felette egy gőzmozdony ábrázolásával. A háttérben megjelenő motívum arra utal, hogy Széchenyi az 1848-ban megalakult Batthyány-kormány közlekedési minisztereként kidolgoztatta hazánk első országos vasúthálózatának tervét. Az emlékérme-kibocsátás apropóját a felső félköriratban olvasható „225 ÉVE SZÜLETETT SZÉCHENYI ISTVÁN” felirat világítja meg. On the occasion of the 225th anniversary of the birth of István Széchenyi, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank will issue a silver commemorative coin with a denomination of 20,000 forints and a non-ferrous metal version with a denomination of 2,000 forints on September 21, 2016. The commemorative coins appear with an unusual denomination and size, as if reflecting Kossuth's description of Széchenyi: the largest silver commemorative coin (diameter 52.5 mm) is "the largest of the Hungarians".
