A mai Szlovákia területén található Szomolnok, az egykori magyar város az 1700-as években a rézbányáiról vált híressé és a magyarországi rézbányászat központjává vált. Ugyanakkor Mária Terézia idejében gazdasági okok miatt alacsonyabb címletű rézpénzeket (kiscímletű krajcárokat és polturákat) kellett forgalomba hozni. Ezen okonál fogva ill. logisztikai szempontokat figyelembe véve a század közepén (1757-ben) pénzverdét hoztak létre a településen, ahol elsősorban ezeket az érméket verték.

Az 1763-as rézpoltura az egyik leggyakoribb szomolnoki verdejelű érme, mégis nagyon ritkán bukkan fel belőle szép állapotú példány.

Az akkor forgalomba hozott érméket S verdejellel jelölték, amelyet az 1763-as rézpolturán is megtalálhatunk, de ismertek bécsi, körmöcbányai és verdejel nélküli veretek is.

Az érme előlapján szokás szerint Mária Terézia mellportréja látható, míg a hátlapra a kor magyar pénzeire jellemző Madonna ábrázolás került.
A Madonnás oldal felső részén látható P-H betűk a latin Patrona Hungariae kifejezésből erednek, azaz Magyarország Patrónája, Magyarország Nagyasszonya, vagy Magyarország Védasszonyaként is fordíthatók. Ez a kifejezés utal arra a régi magyar hagyományra, miszerint Szűz Máriát Magyarország védőszentjének tartották.

A K-M betűk pedig az akkori konvenciós pénzrendszerre utalnak, mely pénzrendszer bevezetése Mária Terézia reformjainak egyik fontos eleme volt. A reform célja a Habsburg Birodalom gazdaságának és katonai erejének megerősítése volt.

Die ehemalige ungarische Stadt Szomolnok in der heutigen Slowakei wurde im 18. Jahrhundert für ihre Kupferminen berühmt und entwickelte sich zum Zentrum des Kupferbergbaus in Ungarn. Gleichzeitig mussten während der Herrschaft Maria Theresias aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen Kupfermünzen mit geringerem Nennwert (Krajcárs und Polturas mit kleinem Nennwert) in Umlauf gebracht werden. Aus diesem Grund bzw Unter Berücksichtigung logistischer Aspekte wurde in der Mitte des Jahrhunderts (im Jahr 1757) eine Münzstätte in der Siedlung eingerichtet, in der hauptsächlich diese Münzen geprägt wurden. Die mitgebrachten Münzen waren mit dem Münzzeichen S gekennzeichnet, das auch auf dem Münzzeichen von 1763 zu finden ist Kupferpoltur. Die im oberen Teil der Madonnenseite abgebildeten Buchstaben PH stammen von der lateinischen Phrase Patrona Hungariae, d. h. sie können auch mit „Patronin Ungarns“, „Große Dame von Ungarn“ oder „Schutzpatronin Ungarns“ übersetzt werden. Dieser Begriff bezieht sich auf die alte ungarische Tradition, dass die Jungfrau Maria als Schutzpatronin Ungarns galt. The former Hungarian town of Szomolnok, located in today's Slovakia, became famous for its copper mines in the 1700s and became the center of copper mining in Hungary. At the same time, during the reign of Mária Theresa, for economic reasons, lower denomination copper coins (small denomination krajcárs and polturas) had to be put into circulation. La antigua ciudad húngara de Szomolnok, ubicada en la actual Eslovaquia, se hizo famosa por sus minas de cobre en el siglo XVIII y se convirtió en el centro de la minería del cobre en Hungría. Al mismo tiempo, durante el reinado de María Teresa, por razones económicas, se tuvieron que poner en circulación monedas de cobre de menor denominación (krajcárs y polturas de pequeña denominación). L'ex città ungherese di Szomolnok, situata nell'odierna Slovacchia, divenne famosa per le sue miniere di rame nel 1700 e divenne il centro dell'estrazione del rame in Ungheria.
