Bárány Róbert magyar származású, osztrák, majd svéd orvos, egyetemi tanár. Munkássága a fülészet és ideggyógyászat köré épült. 1914-ben kapott orvosi Nobel-díjat a „vesztibuláris apparátus (egyensúlyszerv) fiziológiájával és kórtanával kapcsolatos munkáiért”. Bárány Róbert fejlesztette ki a napjainkban is használatos Bárány-féle forgószéket, melyet egyensúly-vizsgálatok során, de még a pilóta tréningek során is alkalmaznak. Seine Arbeit basierte auf Otologie und Neurologie. 1914 erhielt er den Nobelpreis für Medizin für seine „Arbeiten über die Physiologie und Pathologie des Vestibularapparates (Gleichgewichtsorgan)“. Róbert Bárány entwickelte den Bárány-Drehstuhl, der noch heute verwendet wird und bei Gleichgewichtstests und sogar in der Pilotenausbildung eingesetzt wird. Zum 100. Róbert Bárány is of Hungarian origin, Austrian and then Swedish doctor, university professor. His work was based on otology and neurology. In 1914, he received the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his "work on the physiology and pathology of the vestibular apparatus (balance organ)". Róbert Bárány developed the Bárány swivel chair, which is still used today, and is used during balance tests and even during pilot training.
